With the development of global economic integration, the connection between our country’s and the world’s economy becomes more and more close; the enterprises’demand of composite types, comprehensive occupation increases day by day, but at present students who are trained by traditional teaching method of technical education can not adapt to the development of enterprises and the society. Therefore, teaching method reform is an important approach to improving students’occupation ability.Behavior-oriented teaching method has been introduced to our country’s technical education institutions since the beginning of this century, which is gradually agreed by more and more technical educational institutions. This approach advocates that students are the director of learning, while teachers should guide students to improve their learning interests and acquire enough knowledge by do-it-yourself (DIY).Through studying theories and practice of behavior-oriented teaching method’s both in domestic and foreign countries, the author, combing with his own teaching experience, applied the teaching method to mathematics teaching in vocational school. During the study, several research methods such as literature, questionnaire and comparative study are employed in the paper.In this study, we carried out the traditional teaching method and behavior oriented teaching method in the two selected experimental classes respectively in the first semester of the2013-2014school year. The two classes are in the same major and level and they have similar management mode. We analyzed students’mathematics learning state through the results of questionnaire in the beginning of the semester, and we collected the grades and test scores of the two classes. The comparative results suggest that the application of behavior oriented teaching method in mathematics teaching in vocational school is helpful to improving the students’learning interests and grades. Through a semester’s teaching practice, the typical cases and approaches on how to apply the behavior oriented teaching method in vocational school mathematics teaching were provided in this paper, including some specific recommendations on the application of the teaching method.
