Chinese reading teaching is an important way to improve students’ reading skills. Toachieve optimization of teaching strategies is a subject well worth our studying. Based on theexisting points of view on the study of Chinese reading teaching, the optimization theory ofBaban J Ki and Vygotsky’s zone of proximal development theory, the present situation ofsenior Chinese reading teaching and the author’s teaching experience of more than ten years,this paper is about analyzing and sorting out the optimization strategies of senior Chinesereading teaching.Using surveys, listening researches and case studies, the author has summarized andanalyzed the present situation of senior Chinese reading teaching at four senior schools inChang’an District, Shijiazhuang in detail, fully understood the true situation and enhancedtargeted research. Problems in senior Chinese reading teaching and two common readingteaching models have been concluded according to the research. Based on the new curriculumcriterion for senior Chinese, the reference of the related literatures, the author’s teachingexperience, and aimed at solving the problems, four optimization strategies have beenconcluded. The first one is to strengthen awareness of curriculum, and to reorganize readingmaterials. The second is to enrich reading contents according to the characteristics of seniorstudents. The third is to develop school-based reading curriculum. The fourth is to optimizethe leading role of teachers, and to create a personalized reading class of high quality.This paper is about the study of optimization strategies of senior Chinese readingteaching, the purpose of which is to stimulate students’ keen interest in reading, train students’good reading habits, lead the students to a much broader reading space, enable them to getmore exhaustive, creative, and personalized reading experiences, improve students’taste inreading, and try to achieve the goal of Chinese reading teaching---“to improvestudents’language literacy,” and “to enhance students’ ability of understanding and using ourmother language”.
