Oral expression ability is one of the necessary skills to meet the needs of era. Everypractitioner requires higher oral expression competence in modern society. For vocationalschool students, It is conducive to their employment careers and interpersonal communication.As vocational schools cultivate applied talents, they should attach importance to theimprovement of students’ oral expression ability. And Mandarin class plays an important rolein improving students’ oral expression ability.Currently, most secondary vocational schools are aware of the importance of improvingstudents’ oral expression ability, but it remains to be studied and improved in terms ofteaching approach, content and methods. Therefore, on the basis of learning from previousstudies, combining with years of teaching experience and using literature research, interviews,etc., the author explores ways and methods to improve students’ oral expression competencein Mandarin teaching of secondary vocational schools. That is the final training objectives.The paper is divided into four chapters.The first chapter points out that the present situation of the secondary vocationalstudent’s oral expression ability, which includes lack of confidence, nonstandard Mandarin,language problem in norm, poor organizational skills and bad speech habits. The essay mainlydiscusses three reasons. That is from the influence of the family and the surroundingenvironment, the influence of students’ own quality and the imperfect school education.The second chapter explains the relevant concepts of research on this topic. It alsodiscusses the relationship between secondary vocational Mandarin teaching and oralexpression ability, a clear distinction and contact between Mandarin teaching and oralexpression ability.Based on the order of Mandarin teaching, from word practice, reading practice andspeaking practice three aspects, the third chapter discusses why Mandarin teaching canimprove the secondary vocational student’s oral expression ability.The fourth chapter mainly deals with two aspects, links between Mandarin teaching andoral expression capabilities and this associated teaching system. The author aims to explore the strategies to improve oral expression ability by use of Mandarin teaching.
