In the nature introduction of the course, Compulsory Education Biology CurriculumStandards (2011edition) has proposed that students are required to get basic knowledge ofbiology, and to grasp viewpoints as well as the ideas and methods of solving problems held bybiologist in the process of research. Thus it can be seen that the concepts initiated in theteaching of scientific history of biology are identical with those in Curriculum. Theapplication of scientific history of biology is of great significance to the stimulation ofstudents’ interest in learning, elevation of students’ scientific literacy, the embodiment of thenew curriculum concept,and the realization of three-dimensional teaching target, etc..This paper has made a study of the application situation of scientific history of biology inthe teaching of biology in junior high school by methods of literature retrieval, questionnaire,interview, observation and mathematical analysis history of science in junior high schoolbiology so as to get the application status in the teaching of biology in junior high school. Ithas also made an analysis of the problems existed the main reasons in applying scientifichistory of biology in the teaching of biology in junior high school, with the correspondingsuggestions to solve the problem put forward.First of all, using the established questionnaire of the application of the scientific historyof biology in biology teaching in junior high school, a questionnaire survey is made for100biology teachers in junior high school in Yantai, and an analysis is made combined withinterviews on some teachers. Survey results show that there are many factors influencing theapplication of the scientific history of biology in the teaching, for example, teachers’knowledge level, teacher’s classroom knowledge and the over-all situation of education, etc.,which at the same time restricts the application of the scientific history of biology. Based onthe results of the survey, the author puts forward some suggestions for the application for thereferences of first-line teachers.Secondly, after making an inductive analysis of scientific history content of biology inthe third edition of Compulsory education textbook (elementary school for five years, juniorhigh school for four years) biology from Shandong Science and Technology Press, the authorhas summarized the strategy of application of scientific history of biology in the teaching, andhas systemized the scientific history of biology exerting their educational values, so as to provide reference for first-line teachers.On the basis of investigation, this study has made the teaching design of scientifichistory of biology, and has put its teaching design into practice. Through the practice, it hasbeen found that:(1) the application of scientific history of biology in teaching helps to showscientific thinking and method;(2) the application of scientific history of biology in teachingis beneficial to demonstrate the process of scientific research;(3) the application of scientifichistory of biology in teaching helps to show scientific thoughts and values;(4) the applicationof scientific history of biology in teaching is helpful to show the development of STSE.
