In recent years, functional training have been springing up with the developmentof competitive sports. In the preparation period for the London Olympic Games in theyear2012, China had applied this advanced training method. And China’s excellentachievement approved to coaches and athletes that the functional training method isreally a useful training method. Functional trainings,however, are not apply for in thebeach volleyball sports. There is few research on the sand movement of beachvolleyball athletes. Therefore, its very important to study the sand movement of beachvolleyball athletes from the perspective of functional training.The study object ofthis research paper is the study of sand movement section of China’s National BeachVolleyball Team. The study methods include: document research, interview,observation, data and statistics, and experimentation. The result of the research thatfocus on the training process of sand movement is as follow:From the perspective of functional training method, basically the sand movementneeds the players own the ability of moving in a short distance but multi-direction witha high speed, which is based on anaerobic energy supply and assisted by aerobicenergy supply. The movement methods of the players include single directionmovement, multi direction movement, step touch, gliding, stride-leap step, step, crossstep, running step and mixing step, among which, the application of fore-and-aftmovement, left-and-right movement as well as scissors movement takes the highestproportion. The sports injuries related to sand movement mainly concentrate on theoveruse of the ankles, knees and the umbo-abdominal region. The beach volleyballgame often has a long season period; also, the game schedule is relatively crowded andconstant, as a result, there is not a big time gap between competitions. So thiscompacted schedule requires the players being able to coordinate different movementtraining periods so that all the trainings are effective.Following the ‘Pyramid Mode’, the dynamic balance training principle,movement mode principal, which are the best rules to keeping the best competitiveability. According to functional training select the method, which include9methodsand54measures, to improve the ability of beach volleyball athletes.In the research, the author selected ten beach volleyball players as objects,observing their movement training results after ten weeks’ training before the annualcompetition season, the result shows that after functional training, the average score ofmulti direction movement test is1.03±0.265second faster than before, which is anobvious improvement. The combined training of sand and land movement created bythe research advanced the players’ sand movement abilities, gave them a skill of multidirection movement and relative output of power chain.
