In recent years, the implementation of New English Curriculum Standard has put forward higher requirements for middle school English teachers in terms of classroom management. Classroom management plays an important part in guaranteeing the class quality and improving the teaching effect. When it comes to the foreign language teaching, good teaching activities and effective class organization will create a loose, harmonious and active teaching atmosphere. All these factors can help students involve in the language teaching activities better, tap their own potential and realize self-improvement constantly.The research aims to find out the problems existing in the current middle school English classroom management through the study on the status of it. analyze the causes, and put forward systematical and targeted management suggestions to improve the level of middle school English teachers classroom management.This study mainly focuses on the following aspects:(1) What is the status of English classroom physical environment management in middle school? How do they decorate the classroom? Are the students satisfied?(2) What is the status of English classroom psychological environment management in middle school? Is the classroom atmosphere good? Is the relationship between the teachers and students good?(3) How are the rules of middle school English classroom made and performed? What is the effect?(4) How do middle school English teachers manage problem behaviors in class? What is the effect?Subjects in this study are270students, including]35junior middle school students and135senior middle school students, and60English teachers in six middle schools-Pingyang Middle School, Tongsheng Middle school, Wuyilu School, No.1Middle School of Linfen, Xinhua Middle school and Linfen Sixth Middle School. The methods of the study consisted of questionnaire survey and class observation. The researcher gave out each school45copies of the student questionnaire and10copies of the teacher questionnaire. In Pingyang Middle School, Tongsheng Middle school and Wuyilu School, the questionnaires were distributed tothe7th grade and8th grade. In No.1Middle School of Linfen, Xinhua Middle school andLinfen Sixth Middle School, the questionnaires were distributed to the10th grade and11thgrade. At the same time, The researcher respectively observed two classes which werequestioned in each school, and the total amount of classroom observation is24. In the process,each class was noted detailedly in accordance with the observation points set up in advance.The datum collected in this study were analyzed by Excel software. By analysis of thestudents’ questionnaires, the teachers’ questionnaires, contrastive analysis between theteachers and students, and classroom observation results discussion, the problems in middleschool English classroom management were found out.(1) Some teachers did not make aseats adjustment with teaching activities, and ignored students’ willing in decoratingclassroom.(2) There are lots of students think that they are not close to teachers and can notcommunicate with each other sincerely like friends.(3) Middle school students rarelyparticipate in making class rules. The class rules are rigid and most English teachers seldomadjust it along with class changes.(4) Some teachers directly punish students who makemistakes or disobey the class rules, which ignores students’self-esteem.
