Since 21 st Century, science and technology has been developed rapidly. In the process of continuously pushing the boundaries of research, science and technology has also been santified. Nevertheless, science and technology, early from its birth,defines itself to be of human, by human, and for human. Such common examples as stone axes, and such exquisite examples as chips, all prove that science and technology is applied to make our life better, to improve our production. Therefore how to combine science with our daily life has become a hot topic. To blend science with the humanities has also become the only way to vitalize science and technology.Chemistry is a subject focusing on the material composition, structure, properties and changes in the natural sciences. It is closely related to the development of human society, which endows it a double attribute of both scientificity and the humanity.Within the chemistry teaching material used in middle schools, chemical history occupies a large percentage. Since there is similarity in terms of cognitive style and cognitive level between the budding stage of a discipline and an individual’s initial contact with the subject, therefore it is an important teaching path to introduce the generation process of knowledge with the help of historical development.The thesis focuses on "science and technology and the humanities". Through introducing the history of chemistry, it provides a research on the case of applying IHV in chemistry teaching in middle schools. Based on the students’ favorite sketch rendering mode, and under the guidance of the two theories: historical development theory and inquiry teaching theory, it intends to search for a new teaching approach.In addition, it presents a complete record of a typical teaching case of chemistry history in a middle school, gives an analysis of the survey results, and then puts forward some suggestios based on that analysis.
