Education is playing a crucial role in the development of a country. As a part of national education in our country, English teaching and learning is of great importance to students’ development. The English course syllabus has the requirement that students’ overall language ability should be improved, which means that apart from the traditional teaching of listening, reading and writing. Speaking is also an indispensable part of English teaching. Primary education is the start of the fundamental education, and it is also an important period of the systematic English learning. A scientific and effective oral English teaching can serve a solid basement for students’ oral development and as a result, can help develop their overall language level.Just based on this, I, the writer of this paper, made a research on the present oral English teaching and learning of the rural primary school in this area. I try to solve the existent problems in oral English teaching by using Constructivism and put forward ways to improve the oral English teaching efficiency according to the local students’ English level. I adopted Weijia Primary School in Jiujiang (a city in this area) as the sample and mainly used the survey method of questionnaire, case interview and observation of English teaching to study and research the oral English teaching and learning status quo in this area.This paper is divided into six chapters. In Chapter One, I make an introduction to the background, which includes oral English teaching study review and Constructivism in this area both home and abroad. Chapter Two talks about some theories, the oral English course syllabus of primary school and Constructivism, for example, the origin and development, the four different orientation and their respective teaching modes.Chapter Three, a research on the present oral English teaching and learning of the rural primary school in Poyang Lake ecologic and economic area.This chapter also makes an analysis on its status quo, the factors which influence it. I adopted Weijia Primary School in Jiujiang (a city in this area) as the sample and mainly used the survey method of questionnaire, case interview and teaching observation to study and research the oral English teaching and learning status quo in this area.Chapter Four, however, tells us the practical use of Constructivism to solve the oral English teaching problems of the rural primary school in Poyang lake ecologic and economic area, this chapter also illustrates some strategies based on Constructivism theory, Educational Psychology theory and Communicative Approach theory. Then Chapter Five mainly illustrates the experiment I made. It shows the process and the results. By doing so, we can clearly know the effectiveness of the strategies. Chapter Six is the conclusion part, which makes a summary of the limits and the possibility of further study in the future.
