Based on the comparative perspective of China and the United States, we choose Textbooks of PEP Edition for Senior School and the USA Language as object of the study. We start with comparison between these two countries’ basic requirements of writing goals specified in curriculum standards in chapter one. And analyze similarities and differences between two series of textbooks’ arrangement structure and writing knowledge system in chapter two and three. By comparing we find existing problems in Textbooks of PEP Edition for Senior school as below: The writing part can not fully reflect writing goals; Combination of reading and writing has yet to be strengthened; The type of Writing knowledge is mainly about declarative knowledge, while lacking in procedural knowledge; Writing guide should be reinforced in the process of writing; Literary form values literary writing more, while practical writing practice is less.Aimed at solving problems, chapter four refers to inspiration benefited from USA Language and further puts forward several personal advices as below: Firstly, writing goals should set to be practical, and teaching materials must keep in step with curriculum standards. Secondly, as for arrangement structure, ensure that according to time and content when selecting and editing texts, meanwhile reading and writing ought to be combined with each other in a greater degree. Thirdly, the structure of writing knowledge should be transformed into procedural knowledge-oriented, and depend on strategic knowledge to adjust overall process; Also need to strengthen writing guide, pay attention to every link and design guidance of self-monitoring. Moreover, both of Improving the proportion of practical writing and attach equal importance to practicability and literariness are necessary. In this chapter we shall propose localization applied strategy about using American experience of textbook compilation in China, view to be helpful for our country’s textbook compilation, truly guiding writing teaching and improving students’ writing skills.
