In this paper, with the frontline teachers in primary and secondary schools of the rural areas in Northern Shaanxi as the research objectives, the in-depth research, analysis and argumentation are conducted for the current situation, existing problems and causes of the quality of teachers in primary and secondary schools in this area by adopting the educational research methods of survey, literature and statistics, etc. On this basis, the measures for improving the quality of teachers in primary and secondary schools in the rural areas in Northern Shaanxi are proposed. The study mainly includes the following four parts.The first part is an introduction, in which the reasons for choosing this topic, literature review, research purpose and significance, research ideas and methods are described, forming the basic structure and whole idea of the thesis.The second part is about the concept definition and theoretical basis. In this part, the concepts related to this paper are defined, and the structural model for the quality of teachers in primary and secondary schools in rural areas is constructed at the four aspects of ideological and moral quality, scientific and cultural quality, professional competency and mental quality. This part lays the theoretical foundation for the research and builds the structural model for the quality of teachers.The third part is about the survey for the current situation and analysis for the existing problems and causes of the quality of teachers in primary and secondary schools in rural areas of Northern Shaanxi. This part is an important and difficult section of this paper, and the existing problems are found through the survey of the current situation, and the causes are analyzed in this part.In the fourth part, the measures for improving the quality of teachers of the primary and secondary schools in the rural areas in Northern Shaanxi are proposed, mainly including four aspects: first, increasing the investment and the occupational appeal; second, deepening the reform of the normal schools and improving the quality of the subsequent training; third, strengthening the construction of the school system and regulating the teachers’ behaviors in education and teaching; and the last but not the least, improving the introspective awareness of teachers and caring for the physical and mental health of students. This is the manifestation for the application value of this study.
