In recent years, as the new curriculum reform deepens, research on the effective mathematics teaching in the high school has received much attention of experts,scholars and teachers. Mathematics is one of the basic disciplines, which exerts an invisible and subtle influence on other disciplines. The new curriculum reform states that the mathematics course should achieve the development objectives of compulsory education, meet the needs of all students and pay attention to their personality development, and while ensuring students’ good mathematics education, it should ensure their different progress in mathematics. The efficiency of classroom teaching determines students’ development. Research on the effective mathematics teaching in the high school is not only beneficial to teachers’ self-improvement but also beneficial to students’ overall development, and it is the basis for the curriculum reform.During the implementation of the new curriculum reform, great success has been achieved but many problems still exist. The thesis investigates three representative high schools in City X in Henan Province and firsthand data are obtained by adopting methods such as questionnaires, classroom observation and interviews. The study shows that some problems exist in the mathematics classroom in these schools. For example, it is quite difficult for teachers to connect what they taught with the real life,teachers’ skills to handle unexpected incidents need to be further developed, and students lack the initiative to learn. Therefore, the thesis makes an in-depth analysis of classroom mathematics teaching and attempts to find the problems and seek appropriate measures on the part of education administrators, teachers and students in order to boost the efficiency of mathematics teaching in high schools, accomplish the teaching objectives concerning mathematics in the new curriculum reform and finally promote students’ overall development.The thesis consists five parts.Part One is Introduction which introduces the current research on the effective mathematics teaching in the high school, research methods, definitions of core concepts and the significance and meaning of the research.Part Two makes a theoretical analysis of the effective mathematics teaching in the high school against a background of the implementation of the new curriculum reform, analyzes standards of mathematics set in the new curriculum and makes clear the theoretical basis.Part Three investigates mathematics classroom teaching in three high schools in City X in Henan Province and finds that the presence of the teaching content from reality in the classroom,classroom design lacks novelty, neglect encourage teaching,poor classroom management skills of teachers, students learn the low level of participation; operating arrangement yet layered and so on.Part Four analyzes the factors which influence the effectiveness of mathematics teaching. Educational philosophy of education managers, investment status of teaching facilities,teacher education concept, pre-class preparation conditions,witty teaching, teaching methods, evaluation methods, classroom management skills,reflective consciousness,learning attitude, mental capacity, cognitive styles existing knowledge and experience, learning ability, student interest, and this will affect the effectiveness of classroom teaching.Part Five proposes measures for achieving the effective mathematics teaching.
