The local musical culture, as the treasure of Chinese national culture, plays an important role in building the harmonious socialist society. At present, however, the rich local musical cultural resources are endangered all over the country under the impact of multicultural education and the ne in Yantai is also stuck in an unpleasant situation right now. The culture education at school, as a significant field of local culture inheritance, neglects its own unique heritage educational function, however. Given the present situation, the local musical culture needs to be inherited and developed. Therefore, the author believes that it is incumbent on the school culture education to take necessary responsibility and obligations.The industrious people in Yantai are creating a life with wisdom and sweat, leaving behind a variety of musical resources with local characteristics, which have become the precious spiritual heritage of Yantai people. According to the survey of this project, the existing Yantai local music culture mainly includes Haiyang Yangko, Jiaozhou drums, blue off drama, Long Island fishing songs, Qixia folk, Shandong Quanzhen Taoism music, the Eight Diagrams Drum dancing, etc.Although these local musical forms have been selected for intangible cultural heritage protection of national, provincial, municipal, etc., this move didn’t make them forward. At present, the inheritance of the local music mainly relies on some music associations and local organizations, as well as other forms of folk artists orally transmitting. With the rapid development of social economy, people’s amateur life have been enriched a lot. What’s more, the aging of some artists pushes the musical inheritance into an embarrassing situation.School music education has been the main field of transmitting local music. Therefore, we should pay more attention to this key channel so as to develop the students’ awareness of protecting the local musical culture, thus promoting the inheritance, development and innovation of national culture.The research objects of this thesis are mainly junior middle school students. Three towns and two junior middle schools in the city are investigated. Based on the analysis of present situation for junior middle school music education, the local music cultureneeds to be attached great importance. According the analysis of the importance and necessity for the inheritance of yantai local music culture in junior high school music education, in combination with the practical situation of local students, the thesis developed a series of ways that conform to the students’ age characteristic and their acceptance level, which provides the reference and basis for researches in this field.By analyzing the local musical culture, Haiyang Yangko dance classes, folk art class Jiaozhou drums and Qixia folk songs have been selected as the main contents of this study. Through the development of those activities like school-based courses with Yantai local characteristics, cultural alley, school broadcast and recess, students will learn the local music language while young and be affected as well, then they can carry it forward, thus enhancing their national consciousness and national spirit. By the practical research of the inheritance for local musical culture in junior middle school education, this thesis aims to provide effective ways and strategies for the protection and inheritance of Yantai local cultural heritage.
