Research purposes: sports traditional project school is established by the education department and the sports department. It is not only an important base for the training of sports reserve personnel, but also an important part of school sports. However, in recent years, the impact of many factors, the development of sports traditional project school is severely hampered, we need to conduct in-depth study based on the actual situation. This paper analyzes and studies the present situation of the traditional sports school track and field training in Suzhou area, aims to find the existing problems and puts forward suggestions for development. In order to provide a reference for the improvement of the quality of our country’s traditional project school, we can make a contribution to the improvement of the quality of our country’s traditional project.Research methods: This paper uses literature, questionnaire, interview, field investigation, mathematical statistics and other research methods, the Suzhou area middle school track and field training in the school track and field analysis and research.Results: Suzhou existing municipal athletics traditional project school 15, distribution in two four county-level cities and city areas and main cultivation mode is: jointly with the sports school sports team mode and independent school running mode. School leaders attach great importance to extracurricular training of the track and field work to carry out, but parents, the teacher in charge teacher and to participate in the extracurricular training of the track and field support rate is not high; training funds and the location equipment can meet the needs of training and competition, but scientific training of advanced equipment rarely, Department of medical supervision work slightly lagging behind.To solve the above problems, the suggestion is: increasing the number of the athletics traditional project school; constantly improve the "combination of sports and education"; to strengthen the joint, broaden the educational mode of traditional sports school track and field coaches; strengthen training efforts; improve material science; enhance the level of scientific training of coaches; to create more opportunities for competition, allowing players to get more experience expand the school system; reduce the workload of workers, coaches, and perfect the incentive system; intensify preferential enrollment policy, the establishment of transportation system chain athletics sports talents complete; increase the medical staffing increase scientific training conditions, training, investment, construction, medicine, integrated science and technology service system, and constantly improve the technological content of sports training, provide strong guarantee for the traditional school training.
