China’s release of the “National Long-term Education Reform and Development Program Outline(2010-2020)”in 2010 raised continuing education to a new height. To develop PE, we must have a group of PE teachers who are enterprising, hard-working, honest and with probity and self-discipline, which requires strengthening the construction of the teaching body. As the continuing education of PE teachers in primary and secondary schools is the only way to achieve the aim and also to improve the quality of the PE teachers, it is the continuing education of PE teachers in primary and secondary schools that will help to meet the needs of the times and society, to develop the sports industry to a new leap and to achieve the Chinese nation’s bright prospect on the road to revival.At present, with the program of the continuing education of PE teachers in primary and secondary schools carried out, many problems have emerged, which need to be solved immediately. In this paper, taking the PE teachers in primary and secondary schools in Yizheng as the research object, the author adopted various scientific research methods, such as literature, questionnaire, interview, mathematical statistics, logical analysis and so on. By definiting the relevant concepts of this study and investigating the status quo of the current continuing education of the research object, including the value orientation, the teaching content, the means, the time arrangement, the teachers and their expectations, the assessment system, the funding and so on, some suggestions and solutions are put forward to promote the continuing education in this area with the sufficient ways affirmed and the insuffient ones pointed.The questionnaire survey makes it clear that there exist quite a few problems in the continuing education of PE teachers in primary and secondary schools in Yizheng: Some teachers, affected by some traditional opinions, have not realized the value and importance of the continuing education; Simple training forms cannot satisfy the needs of the PE teachers of different levels; Training is short of plans, systems and constancy; The content is not practical because of no points; The assessment systems need improving. In addition, the trainers’ randomness, the trainers’ overburden from their work as well as the shortage of the leaders’ supporting also influenced the enthusiasm and positivity of the continuous education to a large degree.To solve the problems above efficiently, the author gives some strategies as the following: to renew the mind, to have the idea of lifelong education, to establish a new idea of continuing education to professionalize the PE teachers, to construct the training system with a subjective goal, a systematic course offered and various means, to create a pluralistic educational model from the unitary type to the research type, the school-based type, the stage type and the network type of mixed mode, to sound the popele oriented serivice security system of continuing education, to perfect the scientific and reasonable evaluation system, to have high-quality training teachers and to realize the modernlization of the continuing education.
