Nowadays, in our vocational education area, a great reform is going on and cultivating high-quality skilled workers is the core goal.This requires vocational schools must have high-quality and high-level teaching actives. Teaching material, which works as the important carrier of teaching, plays the crucial part. However, the national-united Web Design materials are mostly compiled by professors or teachers from higher education or higher vocational education, and usually featured with strong sense of theory and too difficult to understand, thus always result big gap with Secondary Vocational School students’ actual abilities. They are hard to meet the needs of our students. One of the possible effective way to resolve the matter is to compile school-based Web Design materials which are close to students’ actual life and also attractive to them, in the light of the vocational schools’ actual situation and students characteristics.This article has reviewed the usage and learning effects of the textbook <Web Design> over the last 3 years, analyzed the possible causes of existing problems, and taken the case of school-based web design textbook from DongGuan Information Technology College as an example, to elaborate the development background and development process of the school-based textbooks and summarize the successes & shortages we have had on it so far; Here also gives some countermeasures and advices on how to push the school-based textbook’s development. Hope it will make helpful exploration for the development and innovation of our country vocational education material reform.The thesis includes four parts: Part 1, analyze the necessity and significance of the research on this topic, research ideas and methods, give the literature review,state the significance to develop school-based textbooks, and discriminate some concepts mentioned in this article. Part 2, survey <Web Design> in writer’s school, which shows students are very interested in Web Design Curriculums and they have clear learning goals, but the currently chosen textbook is unsatisfactory and can’t meet the demands, such as the content both on depth and difficulty are unsuited to students, the ratio between theory learning and computer practice is unbalanced, some cases don’t match actual learning circumstance. Those urgently request us to develop new sets of textbooks which can fully satisfy our local students. Part 3, elaborate the development background and development process of the school-based textbooks, and the successes & shortages we have been having by the case of school-based web design textbook from DongGuan Information Technology College. Part 4, give some countermeasures and advices to push the school-based textbook’s development, aimed to solve the mentioned existing problems.
