Relying on the methodologies like data studies, action research and experience summing-up method, this paper studies the education situation of middle schools in the rural areas. After analyzing the phenomenon in the reading course such as the irresponsibility of teachers, the students’ unwillingness and incapacity of reading, we point out several underlying reasons, say, too much interruption, the students’ incompetence in comprehension, the improper difficulties of texts and the serious brain drain. With reference to the connotation of avoiding-sticking-to-the-trivia, we discuss the feasibility of applying this new guideline to the process of teaching, and point out the operating mechanism from the micro and macro perspectives. In the discussion of theme and details of a text, we should take into account the psychological growth of the students and explain the difficulties with the simple and concise words. Finally, this paper also explores the relations between simplicity and difficulty, part-whole and keeping- ridding.
