With the development of the society and the merge of global economics, it becomes more and more difficult to employ talented people with excellent skills and even the requirements for the employees are becoming harder to satisfied. The government offered huge support both financially and politically to job-oriented high school but it didn’t work out that well. More and more students are afraid of math and feel bored and even lose interest. Starting from 2015, job-oriented high school students will only take skill test rather than normal written test. Under this situation, how to make math teaching more effectively and students more motivated and optimistic becomes fairly significant. So this paper will discuss how to improve the math teaching for job-oriented high school from the perspective of teachers in those schools in Hubei province. The author will show his (or her) work by analyzing the poll he made and collected from the teachers and his (or her) own experience. There will be 6 parts for this paper. The first part is about the policy that the government has for the job-oriented high schools and the current situation for those schools. It also describes how the college entrance examination affects the math education there. The second part is about the definition of effective teaching, especially what that means in those high schools. The third part is about the result from the poll and show the reasons why that result happens. The result shows unrest of students in the class, lack of passion from teachers and less interaction. The reason for that is the mental problems of those students, the resources of the students and the lower expectation from the society. The fourth part is about the strategies for improvement. There are strategies for preparing classes, giving classes, emotion involvement and assessment. The most important one is the emotion involvement and it could help students to feel better and possibly increase their interest towards math. The fifth part is about the the courseware planning for counting principle. And the last part is about the the conclusion and some thoughts about the effective teaching.Math teaching for job-oriented high school requires teachers to be courageous and brave enough to explore. Keeping reflective and making conclusions is a long lasting way to make a progress in this project.
