With the gradual enhancement of the teaching professional level that the community requires on teachers, professional development of the novice teachers has become an important task of the teaching professional development. At present there are many studies focused on how to improve the professional ability of novice teachers, among which the novice-experts comparative studies is an important method. Previous research results had some positive impacts on the novice teacher professional development. In fact, teachers’ professional development is a continuous and gradual change, but not a leaping development among some stages. As the starting point and a key stage, novice teachers are experiencing a change process which is also dynamic and continuous. In order to effectively promote the solid and rapid growth of novice teachers, we need a more detailed classification and research on the novice stage to make more targeted cultivation strategy.The teaching design is a bridge which transforms the teaching theory to the teaching practice, and it is a technology which teachers must grasp. The current basic curriculum reform puts forward higher requirements for teachers’ teaching design concept and ability. "Ordinary High school Physics Curriculum Standard" pointed out that the high school physics curriculum should promote students to study independently to realize the students as subjects.The new curriculum regards this idea the basic idea of implementing teaching. Therefore, not only the teaching design limits the course content design, requests the teaching designer to stand in learner’s standpoint proposing questions analyzing questions and making the study content present clearly for the learner, in order to form fruitful teaching process. In fact, many novice teachers have many problems in the awareness and ability of teaching design. Because of the importance of teaching design for teaching professional development and curriculum reform, it is necessary to study the development of novice teachers’ teaching design capability.Basing on the literature research method, questionnaire method and case analysis method,the writer divides the development of novice teachers into three periods: earlier stage, middle stage and later stage. According to the features and development of novice teachers in the analysis of teaching content, teaching goal and students, in the guide-Link design, in thechoice of teaching method, in the designing of questions and examples, in the use of experiments, in the teaching reflection and so on this thesis tries to have a detailed generalized knowledge of novice teachers’ teaching design ability in different periods. Also, the writer will propose some suggestions to some found problems, such as paying more attention to studying the Physics Curriculum Standard and the text books previously, strengthening the training in basic teaching skills, giving great importance to the meaning of teaching goals and conducting the deeper thinking, designing and reflecting of the teaching practice.
