"Diversity In Unity"and "Harmony In Difference"—A Study On The Bonding Role Music Plays For Minority Secondary School Students In Yanyuan County Along Zang—Yi Corridor Regions

According to Mr Fei Xiaotong’s theory“Appreciate the culture of others as do to one’own, the world will become a harminious whole” and“Diversification and Unity;Harmonization and Difference”, author do a series of music experiment in the Ethnic minority area of Si Chuan, including Mabian county, Ebian county and Yanyuan county.The goal of music experiment is promote the minority student’s harmonious relationship. Author choose the quantitative and qualitative methods and focus on Action research:First of all, do some visited at five minority schools of Mabian, Ebian and Yanyuan and had an interview with relevant teachers and administrators;Secondly, deliver 672 questionnaires in twelve classes, collect 300 welcome national music from minority students(including Han nationality, Yi nationality, Mongol nationality and the Tibetan nationality).Thirdly, use the case study and half open interviews to acquire minority student’s attitude about national music and their daily relationship. Fourthly, select the cultural integration strategy scale to analyse minority student’s data. At last, design a series of music curriculum on the basis of the collected informations above and practice it in the Mabian Zhangba middle school and the Ebian middle school firstly. During the teaching time, author make use of the Plan--Action--Observe--Review--Action to perfect the music curriculum frame work and process. Finally, good experimental results are obtained at the Yanyuan minority middle school--author use the Stratified sampling,Random sampling and Snowball sampling to pick 12 minority students from two junior clsses and two senior clsses, including two Han students, five Yi students, three Mongol students and two Tibetan students.Through seven weeks of curriculum, the 12 minority students become trust each other and their relationship is becoming more and more closely.Obviously,the music played a key role among them.Through the observation of students’ behavior and do some detailed casy studies, six conclusions have been obtained. First, Music can across the ethnic and border, cause the resonance of the students of all nationalities.Second, different minority students can comprehend each other’s culture and tradition via the bonding role of music.Third,the bonding role of music can let the minority students familiar with each other and live in harmony;Fourth, in the minority music curriculum, the form of older minority student guide the younger always obtain good effect.Besides, Minority students can easily integrate into the muisc curriculum with the help of team competition(music play).Sixth,thebonding role of Music also useful within the national relations.Under the infection of music, the students of all nationalities obtain the same resonance--they will share the happiness and sorrow, and solve one problem with the help of teamwork. Through the expression of music, they had a deeper understanding of each others music,culture and custom.In addition, author add some exotic music elements to the music curriculum. Not surprisingly, students also show the appreciate for the foreign music. This suggests that the music can not only across the nation and culture, but also borderless.The bonding affect of music play a pivotal role in eliminate country and nation’s strangeness and contradiction.
