Oral communication is one of the basic ability of human life, and is also the quality that the excellent citizens of modern society have to possess. Learning oral communication is beneficial to students’ healthy growth and comprehensive development, and oral communication course is an important way for primary school pupils to improve their oral communication ability. With the development of new curriculum reform, oral communication, as an important component of Chinese education, has received more and more attention of Chinese teachers and researchers, Chinese oral communication of primary schools can not only train students’ in listening, speaking, and expressing, but also has positive significance in promoting students’ language competence, behavior, and mental accomplishment. However, the teaching practice shows that there are still many problems in actual implementation process of primary school Chinese oral communication teaching, which directly affect the results of teaching in primary school classrooms. Based on the fact that the thesis is dedicated to exploring and studying the problems of Chinese oral communication teaching in primary school situation to provide some effective reference for oral communication teaching and optimize it in classroom, so as to promote pupils’ oral communication ability.Based on the language activity theory, interactive teaching theory, the viewpoint of pragmatics, situated cognition theory and humanism theory, the thesis uses the method of literature analysis to collate and analyze large amount of literatures, and by means of questionnaires, interviews and classroom observation, survey the present situation of Chinese oral communication teaching in primary schools. The results show that there are some problems in Chinese oral communication teaching in primary schools as follows: the selection of course content relies on textbooks heavily, ignoring pupils ’ different conditions; the form of oral communication activities is single and, lack of diversity; the efficiency of oral communication teaching is low; the participation of pupils’ in class is low, lack of learning autonomy; teaching evaluation is too brief, and lack of guidance.The reasons of those problems occurring the oral communication teaching in primary school are that the examination pressures affect teachers oral communication teaching; teachers’ accumulation of the oral communication theory; teaching skill and ability is insufficient; oral communication training time is short; pupils’ psychological disorder influences their participation in class; it is difficult to develop a perfect evaluation mechanism for oral communication; and schools lacks effective oral supervision on oral communication.To solve the problems of Chinese oral communication teaching in primary school, this thesis proposes the corresponding countermeasures which include that teachers consciously ascend the attainment of oral communication; optimize the teaching design and implementation; implement the effectiveness of oral communication evaluation; make full use of modern information technology to improve the efficiency of oral communicative teaching; fully exploit the course resources of oral communication, expand the scope of oral communication training; schools should strengthen the supervising and management on oral communication courses, etc. It hopes that these measures could solve the problem effectively and complement Chinese oral communication teaching in primary schools so as to improve pupils ’ oral communication ability.
