The Ministry of education began to recruit undergraduates to pursue full-time professional master’s degree since 2009. After years of development, agricultural full-time professional master graduate student cultivation has made lots of achievements:increasing enrollment of students, improving system and quality of cultivation.However, it also highlights a series of problems: the quality of students and their social practice is not good enough, and the students have little willingness to engage themselves in the field of agriculture after graduating. China is a large agricultural nation. With the process of the construction of new socialist countryside, the social demand for high-quality talents in agricultural technology is increasingly urgent. As an important force of talent cultivation, college and universities shoulder the historical mission of cultivating high-level compound talents. It is of much importance to improve the academic degree system, to perfect graduate education system.This study takes the peculiarities of agricultural field and the training mode of full-time professional master graduates as the breakthrough point and makes an analysis of the situations of the cultivation of agricultural full-time professional master graduates.The author puts forward the cultivation path of agricultural full-time professional master graduates in China’s colleges and universities after drawing the experiences from Cornell University.Firstly, this paper studies the basic theories on the cultivation of agricultural full-time professional master graduates, defines the agricultural master, professional master. It is concluded that the agricultural degree is regional, seasonal, professional,professional and hard. It also makes an analysis of the characteristics of the cultivation of agricultural full-time professional master graduates in the aspects of students enrollment, training objectives, learning method and the degree setting to clarify the differences between the cultivation of agricultural full-time professional master graduates and academic master graduates and the differences between the cultivation ofagricultural full-time professional master graduates and non-full-time professional master graduates.Secondly, it makes an overview of the process of agricultural professional degree education and sums up the remarkable achievements of professional degree: increasing enrollment and admission units, continuous improvement of enrollment system and the cultivation quality. Through questionnaire survey and interviews of three universities,this study finds the existing problems in the quality of enrollment, professional foundation, curriculum, teaching methods, guidance, campus practice and graduation thesis.Thirdly, it summarizes training experiences of Cornell University, clear objectives to meet the demand for the service industry, strict entry requirements to ensure the higher quality of students, standard curriculum and focus on the professional basis,paying attention to social practice to solve the actual problems, perfect management system of highlighting the process evaluation.Finally, it proposes the path of the cultivation of agricultural full-time professional master graduates from the aspects of the transformation of the traditional concept,improvement of the way of enrollment, reform of teaching and teacher employment,combination of production and learning and establishment of quality assurance system.
