With the development of the times,Shanghai as the forefront of reform and opening up, the importance of learning English has become increasingly obvious.Reading is an important part of English, such as listening, speaking, reading and writing. Reading appears particularly important. At the same time, reading ability is an important aspect of evaluating students’ English integrated applied abilities. However, pupils are widespread reading ability is not high nowadays, the reason is the lack of vocabulary, reading interest is not strong and so on. We found that in the process of practice, to explore the teaching of reading teaching strategy research, based on the story of effective reading teaching, to stimulate students’ interest in reading, help students develop good reading habits, so as to improve the reading ability of primary school students, have very important significance.Story teaching is to point to use elements of the story in the classroom teaching, teachers create the situation, make the student to master the process of language in learning in the process of the story.Story teaching, as a kind of effective teaching strategy, has been widely at home and abroad. But, at present the story teaching system in the primary school English reading teaching research is not much. This paper aims to use literature research, investigation research method, action research method and experience summary method, thus the story teaching in the teaching practice and combined with the related teaching theory in reading teaching system.This paper firstly from the concept definition and theoretical basis about story teaching and reading teaching.Research analysis the application of the story teaching in primary school English reading teaching. Clear the relationship between story teaching and reading teaching, and story teaching influence on the development of the students reading motivation.Then, this paper takes Shanghai Pu dong Y Primary School as the research object, narratives present situation investigation about story teaching in primary school English reading teaching. In the school students’ questionnaire and teachers’ interview investigation, comprehensively analyze the story teaching in primary school English reading teaching, the existing problems and the causes of problems.Finally, the paper aimed at the existing problems and combining the elementary students’ age and psychological characteristics in-depth study effective development strategies, and using the strategy, implement teaching in the teaching of reading the story, reflect on teaching concept, teaching methods, refined, the story to make reasonable and efficient teaching strategies serve reading teaching effectively.In addition, also gave the teachers, students and textbook writers some constructive Suggestions, effective use of story teaching motivate students reading interest and keep its persistence, make the students love reading, take the initiative to the inexhaustible driving force of reading.In the end, the paper to present the story teaching in the reading teaching is still difficult to solve some problems in the process of practice are summarized, and pointed out the future research direction. In the future I will be in establishing a story teaching database service for reading teaching in this area for further exploration.
