The development of technology enriches the content and form of experiential learning, under the new technical environment, experiential learning has become one of the current research trends. As a new human-computer interaction technology, Augmented Reality has developed rapidly in recent years, it can provide favorable conditions and environment support for experiential learning. Taking learning activity design as the breakthrough point, the paper focuses on how to design experiential learning activities based on Augmented Reality, in order to promote the effective experiential learning. This research is carried out based on the research project in Open and Distance Education Engineering Research Center of shanghai Open University.Starting from literature research, the paper analyzes the characteristics and process of experiential learning and then constructs the experiential learning activity design model based on this, combined with the guidance of activity theory. After that, from the technical view, it analyzes the strengths of Augmented Reality and contrasts the difference between learning activities under AR and the traditional learning activities. Then the paper constructs the experiential learning activity design process framework, combined with the two parts of the study. The research chooses a course as an example of experiential learning activities design case, which called "the mysteries of the human body-human organ" and organizes the application facing lifelong learners. Afterwards, through tests, questionnaires and interviews, the research evaluates the course and find that the result of the experimental group is higher than that of the control group, it shows that the experiential learning based on Augmented Reality can effectively improve the learning achievement and have positive effect on learners’participation and learning interest. In addition, the learners evaluate the design of learning activities from various aspects and feel satisfied overall, especially with the learning situation and learning resources.Through multi-dimension analysis of the learning effect and learning activities design, the feasibility and effectiveness of learning activity design model and process framework proposed in the paper are verified. From the level of activity design, the research provides some theoretical and practical reference for the experiential learning practice with the support of Augmented Reality.
