Since the 21 st century, learning style changes has been brought about the transformation of teaching methods. Teachers and students pay more attention on how to develop good habits of previewing and improve the ability of self- learning. English preview plays an irreplaceable role in the whole process of students’ English learning, but so far the students did not perform effectively. As the first step of students self-study, English preview is a necessary choice to train them effective independent learning. English preview will help students grasp knowledge, and students can English preview will help students grasp knowledge, and students can actively find problems and solve them to get knowledge. But in the survey, we found that the senior one students did not develop good habits of preview, the students passively accept knowledge, and heavily rely on their teachers. Based on current English teaching situation survey, the author tries to find out problems, and puts forward solutions to the problem. Only then do students realize the importance of English preview. And the teachers should guide and supervise students to English preview. Through this process, English grades can be greatly improved. Here the author summarizes the main issues of this study as follows:1. The goal and significance of this study—how to understand the significance of English preview;2. Survey—to investigate and analyze the current situation of senior one students English preview.3. Problem solving—how to preview an English lesson?In this article the author used those methods such as questionnaire, applies literature review, interview to collect data. Taking Guiyang No.9 high school for an example, the author analyzes the findings to identify the existing problems. With the help of not only the relevant theoretical basis like Self-access Learning Theory and Constructivism, but also study some status about English preview in both sides of students and teachers, solutions are given to correct students’ methods of previewing. The author also makes teaching plans according to these solutions. And through the analysis of the interview results, these above solutions are found feasible. By the efforts of both teachers and students, students’ ways of previewing can be updated and their learning ability can also be promoted.
