High school is a critical period in development of individuals, at this stage the adult’s symptoms and awareness appear gradually, physical and mental development change drastic in this event, but due to the bad effects from instable psychological state, unsynchronized development of physical and mental, academic and life stress and other factors, students from high school would easily have serious psychological problems and social maladjustment and etc. As an exceptional educational tool, sports plays an unique role in individual’s mental health and social adaptation. In recent years, along with enhance morality and foster talents project and related policy guidelines, the value of moral education in schools increasingly prominent, which makes them coincide with the curriculum reform of mental health and social adaptation goals, however, the drawbacks of traditional sports teaching mode has some obstacles to this point, which prompted the majority of sports teachers continue to seek solutions. The growing rise of positive psychology brings a new perspective for teachers who want to make realizations of mental health and social adaptation objectives practically, which is also being rapidly and widely used in all aspects of school education.In this paper researcher made a integration between the concept of positive psychology and high-school physical education.Selecting four classes(two from Gradel and two from Grade 2) from a High School in Jiangsu Province for the study, students were divided into experimental classes which were using active teaching sports and control classes which were using traditional sports teaching. The goal is understanding the effects of the positive psychology concept works on high school physical education which are going to reach a mental health and social adaptation objectives, then conclude targeted guidance to establish an effective support system for schools, families and society. This paper came to these following conclusions:(1) There were no differences between the experimental classes and control classes before the experiment on the mental health and social adaptation,all of them are in a good levels, it appears to changes after the experiment.(2) The concept of positive psychology which were used in high-school physical education plays a significant role on mental health of subjects in promoting the six dimensions significantly, moral qualities and personality traits owned the largest increasing.(3) The concept of positive psychology which were used in high-school physical education plays a significant role on social adaptation of subjects in promoting the six dimensions significantly, learning to adapt and self-awareness owned the largest increasing.
