Classroom teaching evaluation is an important part of new the basic education Curriculum Reform in our country, which presents new requirements for constructing teaching evaluation system including promotion of students’ all-round development, improvement of teaching standard and development of high school curriculum. However, the existing teaching evaluation system is a far cry from the demands of new the basic education Curriculum Reform. Without a far-reaching reform in the evaluation system, it would have a negative influence on promoting the curriculum reform. So it has become an urgent problem to refine teaching assessment and establish teaching evaluation scale and system corresponding with the new Curriculum Reform under the new background. The aims of this paper is to address the problem described above. Firstly, in order to clarify the object of classroom teaching evaluation, the concept of evaluation, teaching evaluation and classroom teaching evaluation is defined through the literature research. Secondly the necessary of establishment of scientific evaluation method is introduced based on the summary and analysis of the research situation of classroom teaching evaluation Then Analytic Hierarchy Process is employed to study the classroom teaching evaluation. The high school geography classroom teaching evaluation system is initially built by analyzing the assessment scales combined with the requirement of new geography teaching; next the factors which may influence the system are analyzed, then a analytic hierarchy model is built by using the evaluation indicators and criterions derived from expert questionnaire, at last a judgement matrix of factors between hierarchies is built, and the relative weighting factor of every indicator is obtained by AHP. In this paper, quantitative methods are applied and the weight of each evaluation indictor is determined reasonably in order to characterize the problem in classroom evaluation system more scientifically, qualitative study and quantitative analysis were combined together to overcome the subjective arbitrariness in the original classroom teaching evaluation system. The classroom teaching evaluation system discussed in this paper emphasizes the integration of teaching with learning and the features of geography course, which makes it more operable and applicable to high school geography teaching.
