The characteristics of the ordinary senior middle school students determine that they themselves are faced with a diversity of choices. However, nowadays most of them lack self-cognition, clear leaning goals and strong interest in learning. They also suffer from serious weariness of learning and limited career planning guidance from the school and family. Additionally, they cannot obtain sufficient information of the society and careers due to the underdeveloped traffic and information of rural senior middle school. Therefore, it is an urgent need to give the guidance of career planning education to the rural ordinary senior middle school students.This research adopts the methods of literature research, questionnaire survey and interview. It is suggested that in the rural areas to carry out career planning education in ordinary senior middle school not only meets the needs of the students’ physical and mental development and multiple choice, is advantageous to the students’ lifelong development, but also is beneficial to the rural basic educational reform and promotion of senior middle school and meets the path selection of the diversity of the development of rural senior middle school. Through the questionnaire survey it is found that the current rural ordinary senior middle school students are eager to get the guidance of career planning education, but the rural ordinary senior middle school is generally lacking in career planning education in the system, which can lead to students’ lack of career awareness and career planning consciousness, and it also analyzes the main causes of these problems: the limitation of “concept”, the barrier of “exam-oriented education” environment and the restriction of “limited resources”. Finally, in view of the problems and reasons this paper discusses the countermeasures of carrying out the career planning education in rural ordinary senior middle school: the first is to increase the propaganda of average senior middle school career planning education, the second is to strengthen the role of the school to carry out the career planning education; the last is to solve scarcity of career planning education resource in the rural ordinary senior middle school in many ways.
