The OECD explicitly defined the future economy as knowledge-based economy in 1996,the characteristics of the knowledge economy age are intellectual resources, assets in immaterialized, virtual management of the enterprise, industrialization of knowledge, pillar of the high-tech industry, sustainable development and globalization of economy. In the era of knowledge economy, the factors of production are transferred from labor, land and capital to knowledge resources, knowledge has become one of the most important component in the factors of production, and has risen to the basis status of social economic development. The prosperity of country and nation, the development of the enterprise and person, will depend on the mastery and creative application of knowledge, so we should rely on knowledge workers who possess knowledge resources. In recent years, the absolute number of knowledge workers in private enterprises have increased a lot. Affected by the marketization, better educated, diversification and globalization, knowledge workers play an important role in enterprises.Peter F. Drucker who was the American management guru first proposed the concept of knowledge worker in 1959, he believed that we should attach great importance to the training of knowledge workers, which can enable knowledge workers to grow continually grow. Dr MaHan who is the knowledge management expert and Zhang Wangjun and Peng jianfeng researched on demand factors of knowledge workers, and then found that individual growth factor is dominant demand factors. Now the training mode applies to all employees in private enterprises, however knowledge workers are different from non knowledge workers, they pay attention to personal growth and development, the pursuit of independent and continuous learning. Therefore if the private enterprises who are playing an important role in the national economy want to win the competition, they must provide targeted training to the knowledge workers. The training and developing of knowledge workers become the intellectual investment for private enterprises to sustainably improve their own performance.I regard knowledge workers in private enterprises as the research object, on the foundation of reviewing relevant documents about training of knowledge workers and employee training, introduced the related theory of knowledge worker and training respectively, and analyzed the current study situation of the training knowledge workers. Foreign enterprises emphasize the importance of knowledge workers’ training, they have a mature system of training management, which includes increasing the investment of training, flexible training form and attaching great importance to personality and career planning. Domestic scholars mostly research on the training of all employees in private enterprise, neglecting the issues of training knowledge workers. The study of training knowledge workers mainly around the training mode and training risk, training management system, the existing problems and training strategic planning, domestic scholars failed to put forward some innovative theory in combination with the characteristics of the era of knowledge economy. Thus, the specific issues should be discussed in this research:the difference between knowledge workers’ training and non knowledge worker’s training in the era of knowledge economy, the problems of training process which includes training need analysis, training plan and implementation,and training evaluation.Through literature and investigation, I understand the training situation of knowledge workers in private enterprises. Referring to the questionnaire of training knowledge workers, I design the questionnaire of training knowledge workers in private enterprises. The amount of the questionnaire is 190, eliminating invalid 19 and recycling effective 171, the effective rate is to 90%. Situation investigation includes training awareness, training need, training plan, training organization, training content, training methods, training resources and training evaluation.Knowledge workers think training is very useful and pursue continuous learning. The managers of private enterprise attach great importance to training knowledge workers in their thinking, they don’t focus on another part of the training process. The enterprises lack of training need and training evaluation. Only 33.92% of the private enterprises carry out the training plan, most enterprises have non-standard training plan. Training content mainly to orientation, working standard and professional skills, but knowledge workers hope that the enterprise can make them professionalization, own psychological quality and career planning. Private enterprises are given priority to teaching method, but knowledge workers would prefer methods of case training and outward bound. The training teachers mainly come from internal employees. After that I summarized all the problems exist in the private enterprise training, including the lack of analysis on training need, the non-scientific or regular training plan, the monotonous training contents, the unitary training method, the lack of faculty, follow-up result evaluation, and also the risk prevention system.Finally, according to the characteristics of knowledge workers and the current situation of knowledge workers training in private enterprises, the researcher come up with some countermeasures for private enterprises to improve the training of knowledge worker. It means pay attention to analysis of requirements and the differences of individuals; Clear training objectives and training plan; Enriched the contents of the training and update the training mode, strengthen the implementation of organization; Strengthen follow-up evaluation, perfect appraisal system; prevent the loss of knowledge-based staff by improving the training system to provide a better growth and development opportunities in private enterprises and realize the development of individuals and sustainable development of enterprises.Innovation of the research:I think that training knowledge workers is based on the specialization, professionalization and marketization and globalization in private enterprises, via the means of E-learning. It is expected that this research can give some significant guide for private enterprises to offer the training for knowledge workers in the era of knowledge economy.
