Cultural Life And Social Work Intervention Of New Generation Of Migrant Workers

The new generation of migrant workers are the main force of China’s economic construction, and the important driving force of social development and progress. They have gradually become the focus of social concern and the main body, and have the most strongest will integrated into the city and are new generation of groups needing to be integrated into the city. Unfortunately when they make efforts to adapt and integrate into the city, facing some cultural life issues, including a single cultural activities, lack of time on cultural activities, low participation of cultural activities and small range of communication. Through investigating their cultural activities in Wuhan, this research study analyzes conditions and problems of their cultural life, and investigates how to intervene in their cultural life from the perspective of social work.By literature research method, questionnaire survey and depth interviews, this study collected and analyze data about the new generation of migrant workers in Wuhan, and analyzed the condition and problems of their cultural life in Wuhan by methods of quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis. The research shows that they have many problems, because of the differences culture between town and country, they affording high economic pressure of city life, city providing peasant-worker with public cultural service supply shortage and a phenomenon of city exclusion of the new generation of migrant workers. Based on the analysis of problems and factors of their cultural life, the paper discusses the necessity of social work intervention in their cultural life. Four aspects are discussed,such as enriching cultural life, increasing the time of cultural activities, improving participation in cultural activities and expanding the range of communication to intervene in their cultural life. Finally, reflect on social work intervened in the conditions of their cultural life.
