An Exploration Of Management Education Based On Design Research Methodology

The 21st century is an information-based world with fast changing economic environment and complex management environment. While the students our management education cultivated for society are often out of management practice. One reason is that with the development of management scientific, its research method combines of mathematics, computer science, statistics and others. Nevertheless, the output of natural science is described as explanatory knowledge, which is difficult to apply to the practice directly, leading to the gap between management theory and management practice. Therefore, we introduce the design research into this paper, and then probe the paths to promote the quality of management education.Based on the current condition of management education, this paper uses a variety of research methods to explore the characteristics of design research and design thinking, for the purposes of promoting the quality of management education. Through this study, the following conclusions are drawn out:(1) Management and Design have lots in common; (2) the design study can make up for the gap between management theory and management practice; (3)the design research method has some prominent features, such as goal-oriented, iterative process-oriented, contextual, multi-party participation, systemic and others; (4) the nature of design thinking is a thinking ability, it can be trained and taught and it combines practical and comprehensive knowledge. It is also a process of constant iteration; (5) based on the design research and management education present situation, raise a path to promote the quality of management education from the aspects of purpose of education, content of education and mode of education.
