With the rapid development of the global economy and information network, it is inevitable that we communicate and cooperate with those people of the different world view, of the diverse cultural backgrounds, of the various way of thinking, and of the disparate mode of behavior in the 21 st century. Multicultural literacy is considered to be one of crucial and basic qualities. Multicultural education contributes to cultivation of multicultural literacy. Therefore, multicultural education is gradually becoming a pretty hot topic in the educational circles.New National Curriculum Standard of the Chinese Course explicitly point out: “To respect and understand cultural diversity.” Meanwhile curriculum objective of compulsory course states: “During the appreciation of foreign and China’s literary works, students should keep a positive attitude of appreciation, value aesthetic experiences, mold their temperament and nourish their souls. They are able to perceive character, taste language, understand the implied intension, enrich the artistic expressive force and form own emotional experience and the way of thinking. ” According to the goal of the thesis, what’s the best for us to guide teaching about foreign literature of high school is combining the teaching of foreign literature in high school with intercultural education methodology and analyzing the characteristics, the current circumstances and the educational significance. Exclusion the introduction, this paper consists of another three sections, as explained in the following subsection.The first chapter is concerned with multicultural education that is embedded in the teaching of foreign literature works. It separately researches on the necessity, possibility, meanings and targets of the integration.Then the second part emphatically focuses on contents of curricula about high school foreign literature works from the vision of multicultural education.Chapter three summarizes teaching status of foreign literature works from teachers and students respectively, through a survey of foreign literature works in the No. 1 middle school of Li Ping County, Gui Zhou province, and puts forward instructional strategy due to the current problems.
