Along with the reform and opening-up of China, the development of social economy, the acceleration of industrialization and urbanization, and the sharp increase in the requirement for labor force in cities, a growing number of peasants leave villages for cities to seek non-agricultural employment and development opportunities and gradually evolve into migrant workers. When witnessing an unceasing increase, migrant workers have become a huge driving force of China’s economic development and urban construction, which has made tremendous contributions to China’s modern construction. Particularly, migrant workers play an indispensably significant role in urban construction and development. While blending into urban life, however, these migrant workers are exposed to some problems, failing to obtain social identification and citizen welfare in proportion to their urban contributions. Meanwhile, the increase of migrant workers has also posed a new challenge to cities. The integration of migrant workers into urban society is a dynamic process, from which the social problems arising have attracted wide attention from all sectors of the society and developed into the major topics needing urgent attention and research in China’s socioeconomic development. As the most basic unit for the work and life of migrant workers, urban community serves as the most direct bridge that connects migrant workers with cities. In this paper, with migrant workers in Panyu District, Guangzhou City selected as the research sample, a study is made on the integration of migrant workers into urban community. This is aimed at seeking a better approach for the migrant workers to blend into cities through researching the structure and subsistence of migrant workers and the factors influencing their integration into community.
