Since2004, shortage of migrant workers appeared in the Pearl River Delta region, the situation has been continuing to worsen, and it is showing a tendency to spread andnormalization trend. The labor shortage gives much pressure to enterprises, smallLabor-intensive enterprises especially. Therefore, it is a major problem for the governmentand enterprises to promote the careers of migrant workers to become stable. And due todifferent family background and growing environment, the new generation of migrantworkers is not same as the old generation of migrant workers, they own distinctivecharacteristic from the olds, they receive a higher level of education, less farmingexperience, expect higher material and spiritual enjoyment expectations, but hard-workingwillingness weaker than the olds. Compared with the old generation of migrantworkers, their employment stability is much lower, which exacerbates the uncertainty ofenterprises’ labor shortage. Thus, empirically analyzing the new generation of migrantworkers’ career stability and its influencing factors is of great significance to promote thecareer stability of the new generation of migrant workers, to alleviate the “labor shortage"problem, to maintain healthy economic and social development.Under this background, this paper based on field survey data and previousstudies, firstly, gives a brief description of the employment behavior of the new generationof migrant workers, and then analyzed the influencing factors of the employment stabilityof the new generation of migrant workers in two dimensions of the post stabilityand turnover behavior, to offer policy suggestion or reference to the government andenterprises. The thesis is mainly consists of six parts. The first chapter (the prelude) points out thepurpose and significance of the study, gives an overview home and abroad, and introducesthe research ideas, research methods and data sources of this paper, and discussesthe possible innovations and shortcomings. Chapter2reviews the basic Theory related toemployment, the employment transfer theory and turnover theory, which providestheoretical basis for the research and ideas for reference. The third chapter gives astatistical description of the behavior of migrant workers, results show that the newgeneration of migrant workers mainly rely on kinship to choose a career, and their careermotivations show the tendency of diversification, and the new generation of migrantworkers’demand for social status and occupation prestige increased, they desires to engagein the third industry more strongly, and they underscore the expected wage demands arehigher. The fourth chapter uses the multi-order-logit model to analyze the influencingfactors of the new generation of migrant workers’ stability of post, results show that age, skills, working years, social insurance number are important factors affecting the poststability of the new generation of migrant workers, whether to participate in training has anegative effect on the new generation of migrant workers on the stability, and the degree ofculture, regularly contacting friends, whether to participate the association and wagelevel are not significant factors. The fifth chapter mainly analyses the turnover behaviorof the new generation of migrant workers by building a two-stage Heckman model, analysis results show that the turnover of female and migrant workers in serviceindustry are significantly weaker, wages and social insurance number are important factorsto reduce the new generation migrant workers’turnover intention, and differentcategories of new generation of Migrant Workers’Turnover motivation are different.Specifically, the male and the new generation of migrant workers working longer in postare more likely to leave for personal development, the female and married are morelikely to leave for wage income, in addition, there are obvious industry differences andenterprise differences among the reasons of turnover of migrant workers. The sixthchapter makes a conclusion of the research, and puts forward correspondingcountermeasures and suggestions pertinently.
