Countermeasure Research On Public Traffic Of Pregerential Development In Weihai

In recent years, with the rapid development of our economy, city populationincreasing continuously, cars gradually being popularized and the acceleratingpace of mechanization, the living quality of city dwellers has been seriouslyaffected by some problems such as traffic jam, inconvenient trips and so on,which resulted in adding time and cost of driving cars. Prioritizing thedevelopment of urban public transport is an effective way to use road resourcesmore efficiently and to ease traffic congestion.This paper takes the current traffic condition of City Weihai as thebackground, carefully analyze the cause and existence of the following poblems:unreasonable layout of road network, the coexistence of high line overlap factorand dead corners which cannot be covered by buses; management system was notperfect, the market competition in disorder was intense; construction ofinfrastructure lagged behind, severely lacking public transportation stations; thepositioning of government was not high， the priorities were not in place; thelevels of science and technology and humanization of the bus were not high，lacking attraction; citizens’ awareness of environmental protection and trafficjam was low, etc. Because of its geological features that Weihai has moremountain lands, it is impossible to solve the problem of traffic jam only relyingon keeping increasing the supply of buses. The effective way is to give priority tothe development of urban public transport, improving the use efficiency ofexisting road and reducing the demand on city roads. By improving the citytraffic, citizens’ demands on city road resources can be effectively solved. Theimplementation of "public transport priority" can effectively alleviate the citytraffic jam and optimize the city traffic structure, which is also the futuredevelopment trend of city traffic.Public transport priority is inseparable from the dominance of government,all levels of government departments, social organizations and the general public.This paper is mainly supported by such theories as to city public traffic theory,public service theory, the theory of public products and the government publicservice theory. By collecting and reading large quantity of basic theories and the latest research results both at home and abroad on preferential development ofcity public transport, researching the current situation of city public traffic inWeihai, applying the research methods like literature analysis, comparativeanalysis and so on, aiming at the existing problems of public transportdevelopment in Weihai, the author presents countermeasures and suggestions ofpublic transport priority on public transit planning, government policy, busmovements, public awareness, innovation management and other aspects, whichaccord with the characteristics of this city, Weihai.
