Entrepreneurship has critical implications for national and regional economic prosperity, the rise of people’s standard of living and the continuous improvement of the society. Goal commitment of entrepreneurial teams, namely the persistence, conviction and perseverance during venturing process, is proved to be one of the pivotal factors in the success of new ventures. Therefore, it is of great significance to explore the formation process of goal commitment in new venture teams. Focusing on this topic, this paper targets at entrepreneurial teams in new ventures context from the perspective of shared leadership, and looks into the influencing mechanism of goal commitment in entrepreneurial teams. This study reviewed and summarized past research literatures and proposed the construct of research. Subsequently questionnaire survey is applied on192entrepreneurs and the sample data is analyzed to examine the construct of this study. With the help of SPSS21.0and AMOS17.0an empirical study is used during the research process. The findings indicate that all four types of shared leadership could positively affect the formation of goal commitment in new venture teams, three of such effects are implemented through the mediating effect of group potency。This paper draws three major conclusions:firstly, in new venture teams, shared directive leadership, shared transactional leadership, shared transformational leadership and shared empowering leadership affect the goal commitment level in a positive and significant manner. Secondly, group potency of new venture teams is positively related to venture goal commitment, In addition, the influence of shared leadership on venture goal commitment is mediated by group potency of new venture teams.This paper contributes to both theoretical study and managerial practices. Theoretically, this research has enriched the study of shared leadership, discovering group potency and goal commitment as two dependent variables and further discussed the impact of shared leadership in new venture context. Moreover, this research has broadened the study on the contributing factors of goal commitment. Practically, the findings and conclusions of this research provide entrepreneurial teams in new ventures with valuable suggestions on how to improve group potency and goal commitment.
