With the rise of bioenergy in 2003, and by the impact of rising global grain prices and the financial crisis in 2008, a new round of global land grabbing emerged. Since GRAIN reported the new round of land grabbing in 2008, the impact and scale of land grabbing has caused great concern from the media, government, international development agencies, non-governmental organizations and scholars. Most research nowadays is based on the theme of food security. However, in the study of the proportion of crop planting, the planting of bio fuel feedstock accounts for 22% of the total planting area, exceeding the proportion of crop planting. REDD projects are widely carried out. Therefore, this paper takes a study on global land grabbing from the perspective of environment.Firstly, the further study of the environmental policies shows that environmental policies on purpose of carbon emissions reduction and environmental protection promote the investment of bio fuel feedstock, which plays an important role in global land grabbing. There is a big similarity between the strength of bio-energy policies and the scale change of the global land grabbing. On the basis of the above, the hypothesis of carbon emission reduction is one of the causes of the new round of global land grabbing is proposed.Secondly, in order to verify the hypothesis, empirical research is carried out through econometric analysis. This paper chooses four aspects of variables, which are environmental motivation, resource endowment, investment environment and macroeconomic. This paper uses multiple models to examine the explanatory variables’ effect on whether global land grabbing will occur in the quantitative analysis of transaction will. On this basis, this paper uses Tobit model to further examine the explanatory variables’effect on the scale. Finally, according to the regression results of models, conclusions can be reached as follows:(1)Carbon emission reduction is the main reason for global land grabbing; (2) The more abundant arable land and water resources taget countries have, land grabbing are more prone to happen; (3) The more abundant arable land investor countries have, land grabbing are more prone to happen. Food safety motivation is not significant; (4) The less abundant forest resouces investor countries have, land grabbing are more prone to happen; (5)Investment protection and geographical distance are key to investor countries; (6)The more economically underdeveloped countries are more easily to be grabbed.
