Small and medium enterprises (SMEs), founded in every industry, play significant roles in our economy. The development of small and medium enterprises cause more and more attention, then, public focus on the study of SMEs, Especially the brain drain. As the most important element, talented people are becoming the key point in the competition between enterprises. However, its competitiveness of attracting talent is not strong as a result of congenital deficiency of SMEs, and the flaw of human resource management in SMEs led to the serious problem of brain drain. The difficulty in recruiting and keeping talented people become harder and harder. And the problem of brain drain, which they have to face, has become a bottleneck in the development of SMEs. Some SMEs are indifferent to brain drain, and some regard the coat of brain drain as explicit cost, ignoring the decline in efficiency.Brain drain is studied in this paper. This paper analyzes the background and significance of the talent drain of SMEs, and the research status were reviewed. Then it is the current situation and factors of brain drain in SMEs. It does an empirical research to SMEs on the basic of related theories. It takes career opportunities, family responsibility, switching costs, job satisfaction, corporate commitment and staff loyalty as variables. Some relevant data about SMEs are collected through designing, distributing and recycling questionnaires. Then it does the statistical analysis of the factors of brain drain in SMEs. It turns out that the six variables are accepted widely. Then factors of the variable which score highest are studied.Finally, according to the analysis results, the countermeasures which can prevent talent drain are Putted forward:creating a good working environment, making a reasonable career planning by the employer and employee, increasing staff training and promotion, designing reasonable salary welfare system and performance evaluation system, establishing constraint mechanism. So that can reduce the talent drain at the utmost.
