The Study On The Coordination Development Of Urbanization And Highway In Guangdong Province

Urbanization is the basis of the needs of the highway. Highway construction has an important role in improving the city’s geographical advantages and the promotion of urbanization process. They promote each other and mutually dependent. Since reform and opening up, with the rapid and sustained development of the national economy, levels of urbanization in Guangdong Province ranked the forefront. Meanwhile, until the end of 2012, the province’s highway mileage is 5524 km, which just behind the Henan Province and ranked second. Accordance with the unified arrangements of the conference to speed up important infrastructure, Guangdong Provincial Expressway Development ushered in a new round of spring. In this context, we identify the internal relations of urbanization and highway development, analysis the development stage and sort out the focus all over the city. The research has an important role for the sustainable and healthy development of Guangdong provincial.Paper reviews on theories of urbanization and highway both at home and abroad from five aspects, focusing on the concept of urbanization, urbanization measure, freeway economic belt and coupling system. We take the relationship between urbanization and highways as the theme, analyze separately from the impact of urbanization on the highway, the impact of the highway on urbanization and other various perspectives, and reveal the intrinsic relationship of the two coupling developing systems. Then we review the course of urbanization and highway development in Guangdong Province, and summarize the characteristics.Analysis shows that the development of urbanization and expressway in Guangdong Province is fast and has a certain foundation for further development, but regional development is unbalanced. We should pay attention to this issue when we analyze specifically Cites. On the basis of existing coupling research results, we build the index system and coupling coordination judgment standard. Urbanization indicators selected from the four perspectives: population, economy, society and space. Expressway indicators selected from the three perspectives: infrastructure, means of transport and traffic levels. We select sample data from 2008 to 2012, analyze Index changes from development level and speed, and obtain the coupling status of guangdong province. Studies have shown that Urbanization and highway indicators present a stable rise, especially the Pearl River delta.By the end of 2012, the level of urbanization and the highway development present five echelons and the level of highway development is higher than or equal to urbanization in 23 cities except Shantou and Zhuhai. And from the point of coupling coordination degree, in addition to Chaozhou and Maoming, the remaining cities’ two subsystems coupled in good shape. But different development types need to focus on different objects.According to the empirical results, we put forward concrete suggestions, so as to promote the sustainable development.
