Container terminal is the key node of container transportation. Huge amount of containers receipt and delivery are processed in the gate of container terminal with consignors or consignees,in which vast of information interchange, gate formalities and inspection are involved. In gate process flow, container terminal must put into substantive resources, and users must queue up. Therefore, how to improve efficiency, accuracy, and save handling resources is a problem of worth studying. At present, most of studies focus on intelligent gate which improve efficiency and through technical measures, such as OCR, RFID, CCTV, EDI, etc., while studies on container receipt and delivery formalities and information interchange is seldom.The thesis researches the process improvement of container receipt and delivery, focuses on gate formalities and information interchange. It puts forward draft processing methods based on the rule of operation management, determines the improvement scheme through questionnaire method and analytic hierarchy process, and designs, develops and implements the corresponding system. Finally, through the method of queuing theory, the requirement of parking spaces and human resources after implementation of new method are analyzed. The thesis proposes three formalities methods of container delivery and receipt, so the users don't need to go to terminal service counter. One of method is to deal with the EIR document in advance through the way of EIR image transfer. The second method is innovative application of two-dimensional code for EIR, and automatically process the information transmitted by the mobile internet by scanning two-dimensional code on EIR. This method can reduce manual processing and improve the accuracy. The third method is processing the gate business by sending text messages. This thesis designs two-dimensional code generated standards, and develops the image processing system, monitoring system, messages processing and response system automatically processing interface and mobile applications.Process improvement method proposed in this thesis is of great importance to further improve the efficiency of container terminal gate service, save port resources and reduce carbon emissions. It has carried on the practical application in C container terminal, and brought good economic benefit and social benefit after a year of promotion. But at present stage, the research and application is restricted by objective condition such as intelligent terminal, mobile internet, users' skill and etc.
