Especially in the process of urbanization in China, the electric power plays an important role in promoting economic progress and social stability to a certain extent. At the same time, in the "Twelfth Five Year Plan" of the energy industry planning, in order to realize the transformation and upgrading of the industrial structure of our country, gradually reduce the proportion of thermal power, improve the utilization of new energy, objectively caused by the complexity of the power supply network system in urgent need of the traditional mode of distribution network of technological transformation. Based on this, in order to implement the relevant requirements of the national development and Reform Commission and the Department of energy, to implement the basic power grids, accelerate technological upgrading of the distribution network, Xinyang national grid company actively cooperate with related to the deployment, in the "Twelfth Five Year Plan" construction of distribution automation system based on the application, on regional distribution operation management to accelerate the construction of to reduce the stability and reliability of the power failure, actively serve the local economic development.In fact, from the reform and opening up so far, the development of electric power industry in China has been lagging behind in the overall level of China's economic development, especially in the technological transformation of modernization, the need to pay a lot of manpower, material and financial resources to maintenance the normal electricity consumption market. As the second largest city in Xinyang Province, Henan has a lot of problems in the power supply due to the influence of geographical environment, climate and human characteristics. Scale of power will cause the bad social influence, especially in Guangshan, Luoshan, Xixian County, the county seat of the new and remote mountainous areas, power outages tend to produce a serious impact on society, such as health care, finance, education, business and social functions. According to the requirements of the National Power Grid Corporation, in 2020, China should establish a perfect smart grid system, and to achieve this goal, it is necessary to strengthen the basic construction in the distribution network automation.The design and implementation of distribution network automation construction project is a complicated system engineering, which needs to be expanded according to the characteristics of Xinyang local area. In this paper, based on the actual situation of Xinyang power supply company distribution network, through the relevant engineering construction content analysis, elaborate the design ideas and explore the realization process.Research of this thesis includes five parts: in the first part, the author elaborated on distribution automation at home and abroad development present situation. The second part describes theories and system of distribution automation form. The third part based in Xinyang power company for the design of power distribution automation system. The fourth part is implementation(including transformation of the original system), part five analyzes the existing problems, put forward improvement measures. through the research of this paper, it provides reference for the development of Xinyang electric power supply company's distribution network automation, and verify the existing transformation results.
