Rice planting mechanization is of milestone significance during the rice production,which determines the comprehensive level of agricultural modernization. With the rapid development of our economy,accelerate transfer of rural labor force to the industrialization and the aging population growing, rice planting mechanization becomes more and more urgent demand for rice transplanter. Walking transplanter designed the principle of Ergonomics, which contains a mix characteristics of portability, stability, high efficiency and energy saving etc, be widely applied in the double cropping area of China south. Most of transplanters are fixed 9 inches on the currently market, while they can't meet the requirements of different rice varieties and diversified cropping system demand in the double cropping area of China south. Therefore, developed the adjustable spacing transplanter is the only way leading to the transplanter development of our country, to make only type transplanter can meet the different cropping system demands. Realization of adjusting the transplanter row spacing can enhance its employ universality, while improve greatly the mechanization level of rice planting in our country. The test results show that the adjustable row spacing transplanter helps to increase rice yield, but also for saving cost and improving efficiency.The key technology of adjustable row spacing transplanter which has adjusting function, can ensure the work coordination between each mechanism. The Yanmar AP4 walking transplanter is research objective of this paper, to analysis the advantages and disadvantages of existing transplanter applicability, and put forward a feasible overall design scheme of adjustable row spacing walking rice transplanter according to the agricultural machinery, agronomy and design requirements of transplanter. This paper details three key mechanisms of the adjustable row spacing transplanter containing seedling box mechanism, moving box mechanism and transplanting mechanism, and makes a new structural design for other supporting agencies. Three key mechanisms are sumilated and verified from the point of view of kinematics and dynamics, and the transplanter field contrast test was done after completing the integration of machine.This paper studies the following important aspects in detail:1) Analysis of the development and research status of rice transplanter between domestic and foreign, and Put forward the feasibility and necessity of developing adjustable row spacing walking transplanter according to the rice agronomic and cropping system requirements in different regions of our country.2) Put forward the overall design scheme of adjustable row spacing walking transplanter, which is the composition and design principle of the seedling box mechanism,moving box mechanism, and transplanting mechanism, and discussing briefly the work coordination among the related mechanisms.3) When the improved structure of transplanter was organized by 3D modeling method of Pro/E software, we have obtained the general assembly drawing of adjustable row spacing transplanter. And the motion simulation analysis of transplanting mechanism planting trajectory has been done by using mechanism modeling of pro/e software. We have analysis the variation curve of displacement, velocity and acceleration of the seedling location, and verify the rationality and reliability of transplanting mechanism by simulated analysis results.4) Modal analysis of the two spiral shafts is accomplished, which using the modal analysis module of ANSYS/Workbench software, then the mode shapes nephogram of the two helical axes have been obtained respectively. A judgement on normal work of spiral shaft can be made when have fully understood its vibration information.5) The drawings of machining parts improved design was finished by using Auto CAD2008 software, and organized to prototype. Cultivating some qualified seedling by transplanter and comparing the machine transplanting test in field according to the current seedling technology. We have an tracking investigation and results analysis on the effect of seedling transplanting, growth process and final yield.
