Chinese diet culture is broad and profound, which is also an important part of Chinese culture. Studies of C-E translation of dish names provide a window for the foreign friend to appreciate Chinese diet culture. A Bite of China has received high audience rating. And the delicious food in this program with ethnic characteristics, which is unique in China, has also won great popularity. Thus, translating these dish names into English is very necessary for carrying forward Chinese culture. This paper regards the Skopos Theory as a theoretical support, and uses its main idea to guide the whole process of the translation practice. And based on translation practice, the thesis sums up the translating strategies of Chinese dish names. At the first place, this thesis introduces the background and significance of this research and gives an overview of the Skopos Theory, and explains guidance of the Skopos Theory in C-E translation of dish names. And finally the thesis comes up with two translating principles, which should be followed in C-E translation of dish names. In order to understand the main raw materials, accessories, cooking methods and the cultural factors, which contains in these dishes, a large quantity of materials have been researched. And Through translation practice, some specific translation strategies of C-E translation of dish names have been found.
