A Indefinite Quantifiers' Collocation Study Based On Corpus For TCFL

Collocation study is of great theoretical significance and practical value to both the noumenon study of language and TCFL.This paper studies the collocation of indefinite quantifiers "dian" and "xie" based on corpus, extracts the significant collocates of these two indefinite quantifiers and then sums up their colligation forms.The collocation forms of "dian" (?)and "xie" (?)are basically the same,but their exist some differences on frequency of use,semantic function,etc. On the left of "dian", the collocations are mainly the numerals (64.64%), especially "yi(?)", then verbs(20.08%), adjectives(8.37%), and pronouns(4.92%), the right collocation of "dian" are mainly nouns,a few verbs and the adjective "hao"(?).These are colligation forms of "dian":yi+dian(+NP), VP+dian(+NP), VP+dian, Adj+dian+VP, VP+Adj+dian, X+dian+hao, Pronouns+dian+NP, ban+dian, etc. The sentence pattern "ban+dian" and "yi+dian" are mainly used in negative sentences to express the meaning of absolute negation, "ban+dian" has a stronger negative mode than "yi+dian". When the pattern "yi+dian" is used in affirmative sentences, it has a similar usage with "dian", but "yi+dian" tend to modify disyliable nouns, and it also has a stronger mood and sentence-completing function. On the left of "xie", the collocations are mainly pronouns(55.59%), then the numeral "yi" (29.15%), verbs(13.12%), a few adjectives(1.96%) and the location noun "qian"(?)(0.17%). The collocations on the right of "xie" are nearly all nouns. For "xie", it is mainly used in these sentence patterns:Pronouns+xie(+NP), yi+xie(+NP),and VP+xie+NP, other patterns are not commonly used.By study and analyze the biased errors of "dian" and "xie" we can find out that, there are more errors in the use of "xie". and most of the misapplication are because that students cannot understand that "xie" can refers to the complex number, and they cannot accurately distinguish "yixie(??)youxie"(??)zhexie"'(?^),"naxie''(??),etc. There still exist many errors in the syntactic structure for both "dian" and "xie". due to the overgeneralization for lack of grammatical function understanding.View from the teaching materials, relatively less grammar points are presented, and the coverage of the indefinite quantifiers grammar is relatively low. So this paper offers some teaching suggestions as follows:Write the corresponding descriptive grammar used as a reference book for Chinese-language teachers;Teachers could complement properly grammar points, the high frequency collocations list and colligation forms in this paper could provide good references; When teaching Chinese, teachers should choose frequent collocations as teaching contents,and pay attention to develop the students'ability of collocation; Teachers should lead students to recognize and distinguish between similar forms, the language points of "Pronouns+xie" and "youxie" need to be strengthened; Teachers should pay more attention to the training of language points and language intuition, and supplement corresponding exercises.
