A Report On The Translation Of Musical Memories

Biographical literature is a kind of literary form which consists of both historical and literary features. Its dual features put translators in a situation where they have to act with shackles. Successful translations of biographical literatures not only attach emphasis on its dual features, but also the texts' professional areas and background information so as to embody its unique characters and spread information better.This report is based on the translation of Musical Memories by Saint. It analyses some difficulties in the project from the perspective of communicative and semantic communication and text typology theory. Firstly, the author gives a brief introduction to the project, the book and the author. Afterwards, the translation process is presented. What follows is the key part--case analysis, in which translation difficulties are discussed at two levels:phrases and sentences. In the key part, translation strategies for culture-loaded words, proper nouns, long sentences and attributive sentences are discussed combining communicative and semantic translation and text typology theory. In the end, the author makes a summary of this report which mainly talks about achievements of the project and shortages of the report.
