This is a translation project report. The selected parts for translation are the first four parts of The Story of Leizu, which means the translation contents are introduction and the first to the third section in chapter two. The source text uses vivid words and concise sentences to introduce Leizu and her childhood. The translation of The Story of Leizu is one of the projects that traditional Chinese culture was promoted by the English department, Southwest University of Science and Technology. The translation of The Story of Leizu aims to spread and popularize traditional Chinese culture and to make Leizu Culture known by more people. The Story of Leizu is formed by many simple sentences with colloquial language. Therefore, during the translation process, it requests that the author should exercise Skopos Theory flexibly that the target text maintains both all the information and features of language and culture in the source text to spread and promote Leizu Culture and achieve the purpose of intercultural communication.The translation report consists of six parts. Chapter one is an introduction of the project, including the background, the significance and the structure; Chapter two introduces project description, including the source of original text, the requirement of the project,and target readers; Chapter three focuses on the translation preparation,including pre-translational analysis of the source text, collecting and reading parallel texts, translation tools and dictionaries, as well as translation planning; Chapter four is the key point of the translation project report, detailing translation theory and case analysis; Chapter five demonstrates self-reflection of the author and assessment of the target text by the supervisor and the foreign teacher; Chapter six briefly concludes the translation methods adopted in the target text and the significance of the translation project report.
