A Translation Practice Report On The Series News China Brand China Story

With the reform and open-up policy, China's economy has been further developed and its international status is also rising. Therefore, foreign publicity translation work is greatly increased. As one of the domestic authority medium, People's Daily has a long history and a strong influence at home and abroad. It produces a series of reports in 2015, “China brand, China story”, which tells the story behind the Chinese brand to foreigners. It has value of publicity. So the author selects the People's Daily series of reports China brand, China story as translation text. This dissertation is arranged in the following way.In the first chapter, the author introduces details of the text and significance of the translation. Then there are some problems which should be solved in the translation practice list at the end.In the second chapter, preparation before translation and translation strategies are introduced. And then, on the basis of Journalism studies the text type of this translation report is defined as “Features News”. Next to this, the author analyzes the characteristics of “Features News” under the guidance of text type theory proposed by peter Newmark and communicative translation theory, and then leads to the content of translation strategies of the third chapter. The last, the author describes the translation preparation, arrangements and how to control the translations quality. And the author starts the case study in third chapter.In the third chapter, the author introduces some translation methods used in translation from above strategies: Compensation, deletion, paraphrase, rewriting and proper name translation. And the case study is founded to describe how to use the theory and strategies in translation practice. And then the author will analyze the examples in the parts of paraphrase, rewriting and translation of proper name.In the fourth chapter, the author summarizes the full text and draws a conclusion. The essay explains the difficulties encountered and some author's views on the foreign publicity translation. Then the paper describes the author's future direction in translation practice and ends this paper.
