A Report On The Translation Of Tomorrowland: Our Journey From Science Fiction To Science Fact(Chapter One, Section ?, Section ? And Section ?)

The translation material in this report is the last three chapters of Part One of Tomorrowland:Our Journey from Science Fiction to Science Fact, the new work published by Steven kotler on May 12 th, 2015. And the three chapters are respectively: Extreme States: The biology of spirit; Evolution's Next Stage: The future of evolution; Vision Quest: The world first artificial vision implantation.This thesis is a report on the translation of above-mentioned work, which belongs to the translation study of social science articles. Based on the theory of Faithfulness, Expressiveness and Elegance that was put forward by Yan Fu, the author completed the translation report. With the continuous development of translation career and the translation studies, the meaning of this theory has also been constantly deepening and expanding. After the theory was put forward for one hundred years, Lu Xun, Lin Yutang, Fu Lei and Qian Zhongshu all put forward their own translation theory, but all their theories share the same root with the theory of Yan Fu. In order to make sentences translation more clear and more coherent, the author, in the translation practice, analyzes cases mainly from the perspective of Faithfulness, Expressiveness and Elegance, and combines corresponding translation skills, such as literal translation, amplification, omission, etc, making the sentences more clear and more coherent.This translation report is divided into four parts: the first part is the description of the translation text, including the source of the translation text, the description and the meaning of the translation task. The second part is the translation process, including the preparation before the translation, the analysis of the first translation draft and modification, the analysis of the second draft and modification, the analysis and embellishment of final version. The third part conducts cases analysis of translation mainly from the perspective of Faithfulness, Smoothness and Elegance, and makes the concrete analysis combined with the corresponding translation methods; the fourth part is about the lessons learned from translation practice and the problems need to be solved.In this report, the author realizes that in translating the social science articles, the translation text should be well understood and the relevant materials should be read carefully before translation and some corresponding translation theories must be used in the translating process.
