The communication of middle school teenagers with peers plays a crucial role in their social development. The establishment of sound peer relations and the high-quality friendship not only boost their confidence, but also facilitate their social adaptation. With the development of the economy, an increasing number of parents are more willing to send their children to boarding school for it can help them to take care of their children, In addition, boarding schools provide tailored, nutritious meals, ensure the safety of students. In that way, plenty of time is saved and personal safety hazard is also averted. The other reason why boarding school system is embraced by parents is that it can compensate for the deficiency in family education caused by individual difference and a lack of professionalism. However, every coin has two sides. Students at boarding school have less time to spend with their parents, and less adaptation buffer space for independent self. Boarding schools are gaining more and more attention, In recent years, the physical and mental health of boarding school students have been paid attention to and studied by many scholars. The thesis conducts a research on the friendship quality of boarding junior middle school students, the characteristics of their friendship quality and the influence of social support and interpersonal attribution. The subject is 6 classes of the eighth grade. The author imposes practical intervention on class group counseling and conducts 8 intervention courses on peer interaction in 3 classes. The other 3 classes are taken as contrast with any intervention activity. The intervention results are analyzed by using Friendship Quality Questionnaire, Adolescent Social Support Scale and Multidimensional-Multiattributional Causality Scale. The pre-intervention and post-intervention data are analyzed. It is found out that the friendship quality of boarding middle school bears no relation to their gender and family condition(if they are the only child or not), different from day-students. There is a marked correlation between their friendship quality, social support and interpersonal contribution. Subjective support and objective support, which are the two dimensions of social support and internal attribution of interpersonal contribution can conspicuously forecast the friendship quality. The class group counseling strategy can improve the friendship quality of middle school boarders. Therefore, it can be spread and applied in middle school students’mental health education. |
