This thesis offers a discussion of translating political texts guided by skopos theory, based on E-C translation of the first chapter in Political Order and Political Decay: from the Industrial Revolution to the Globalisation of Democracy written by Francis Fukuyama. The author's translation practice proved the feasibility of applying skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule to political text translation. Specific measures to translate words include omission, addition, domestication as well as description of abstract words, while domestication, reasonable division and optimal construction are adopted in sentence translation. |
