Since the founding of new China, China's international status and comprehensive national strength has significant improvement and Chinese government also holds various international and regional conferences in each year. As a country of the world's second largest economy, a lot of other countries want to know China's economy, politics, culture, language, etc. And China's official press conference is the most formal and direct channel for them. In these kinds of conferences, interpreters is very important to act as a "bridge" for foreign journalists and speakers. This thesis, based on the Interpretive Theory, with the first PCI of Prime minister Zhu Rongji during 1998 as the case, is to explore what strategies the interpreters use at the official press conferences. This case is very good at that time. Through research, we find that during the interpreting process of official press conferences, interpreters often employ four strategies, namely, semantic explanation, information supplement, deletion, restructuring sentences. |
